The organization of medical and health professions in Cameroon related to Nurses, Midwives, and Medical-Health Technicians is governed by Law No. 84-010 of 5 December 1984.
An Order of medical and health professionals is instituted, which includes nurses, midwives, and medical-health technicians entitled to practice their art in Cameroon by the above law.
By way of derogation from the provisions above, nurses, midwives, and medical-health technicians of the Armed Forces, as well as those working in the administration as technical assistants are not registered with the Order.
The Order ensures that the principles of morality essential to
the exercise of the professions of nurse, midwife, and medical-sanitary technician as well as the respect of the Code of Ethics.
It ensures the defense of the honor, ethics, probity, and independence of the profession.
It accomplishes its mission through two bodies:
– The General Assembly;
– The Council of the Order.
