A. THE ATHLETE AND THE SPORTS AGENT
Every athlete must be regularly licensed to a structured sports club. The athlete is supposed to conform to the following rules.
- Refrain from the use of prohibited substances, methods and products.
- To work towards the improvement of sporting performance.
- To respect the laws and regulations in force in sports.
- To comply with sporting ethics.
- To respond to any call for national selection and to endeavour to represent Cameroon with dignity.
- To participate in the fight against doping and drug abuse in sports.
The athlete and technical support staff may, in the event of outstanding sporting performances and results at continental or world level, receive financial and/or material rewards from the state.
The athlete may enter into a contract with a sports agent in order to benefit from his or her services in return for remuneration.
In order to carry out his activities, the sports agent must hold an authorization license issued by the national sports federation(s) concerned. The minister responsible for sports must be informed.
The conditions and modalities to issue and withdraw the authorization license are set by the relevant sports federation.
B. SPORTS MANAGEMENT STAFF
The mission of sports coaching is the education and training of the individual.
The staff of the sports management is composed in particular of;
- elected volunteer leaders
- Trainers
- Physical trainers
- sports statisticians
- Executives exercising the functions of management, organization, training, teaching, animation, refereeing and jury member
- Doctors, sports psychologists, as well as medical and paramedical personnel
Only qualified persons trained within the authorized structures may exercise the functions of the coach.
The same obligations imposed on the athlete apply mutatis mutandis to sports management staff.
C. MEDICAL SUPPORT FOR SPORTS
Sports medicine includes physiology, biology, anti-doping, traumatology, nutrition and psychology. It is practised in all forms of physical and sports activities.
Within the framework of the fight against doping and drug addiction in sports, the minister in charge of sports shall ensure, in liaison with the minister in charge of health and the specialized bodies, the elaboration and implementation of a control and prevention strategy.
Medical and paramedical support is provided by a qualified multidisciplinary medical and paramedical team.
The conditions and modalities for the delivery of sports medicine approval are defined by regulation.
