PROFESSIONAL NON-TRADING COMPANIES OF DOCTORS AND THE INSURANCE OBLIGATION

According to Law No. 90-36 of 10 August 1990 on the practice and organization of the profession of physicians in Cameroon, doctors with a private practice in the same locality may associate with each other and practice their profession in the form of a professional partnership, the organization and functioning of which are laid down by specific texts.

The practitioner or the professional partnership of doctors is required to take out a policy with an approved insurance company to cover his professional risks.

A receipt for this policy shall be submitted to the Council of the Order at the beginning of each calendar year. Failure to have an insurance policy shall result in the temporary closure of the establishment, at the discretion of the Council of the Order or of the supervisory authority to which the matter has been referred. The establishment may not be reopened until the receipt proving payment of the insurance policy has been presented
